Mulholland Drive street sign, winding road

My recent trip to BBCON in Philadelphia has inspired me to create this ongoing communication to share some of the things I learned about the RENXT changes over the next 12-18 months. We may be in for a bumpy ride, but having a solid road map will make this trip more enjoyable for everyone.

Blackbaud Software No Longer Passing Inspection

RE software was based on 90’s technology and launched in the early 2000’s. While I also love(d) Database View it is not possible to prolong this platform any longer. If it helps to put into perspective, there are Software Engineers working on the conversion who are younger than the original product…

Coming Down the Road

Functions of Database View are being moved over to NXT WebView, and the shop talk mentions a Unified-View-Only from 2027 onwards. As the parts are being changed one-by-one, there are currently some things that only/better work in Database View and some in NXT. It’s not a simple gear shift from one platform to another. Database Managers will need time and support from their organizations to clean up and otherwise prepare for the change overall and the mini migration of items such as Batches, Queries and Reports from Database View to NXT.

Driving Into the Future (aka Actions)

My first suggestions for you are to stay informed about the changes. This means reaching out to me for help, continuing to read this newsletter 😉and making use of Blackbaud info opportunities like:

·     Signing up for Product Briefings (next ones start Nov 18th): https://www.blackbaud.com/product-update-briefings

·     Taking time to read the What’s New pop-ups when you open NXT

·     Reading Blackbaud Emails

·     Attending a webinar of your choice each month and/or attend some monthly Town Halls

Change can be frightening but let’s allow some excitement, too. There are lots of things I’ll cover in future presentations and newsletters that will simplify and change your work for the better.

Coming Soon: Tips for Database Managers and a look at Marketplace Software plug-ins.
